Depending on the reasons why a person smokes there may be an answer to the question “is there an easy way to quit smoking?” Unfortunately, many people use smoking as a type of crutch, which can make quitting smoking more difficult. If you are lucky enough not be one of these people then the easy way to quit smoking would be to just not smoke. For the sake of this article let’s assume that you are addicted to nicotine and smoking is used as a crutch, what then?
Most people who smoke sincerely want to quit smoking. Nobody can force a smoker to quit. It is something they have to choose on their own. For most, quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. Smoking is a form of addiction, not only do people get addicted to the nicotine in cigarettes but they also smoke cigarettes to deal with certain aspects on ones’ life such as stress, anger, or boredom. This can be known as the psychological effects of smoking. So when a person quits smoking, not only do they have to deal with the psychological effects associated to smoking but also the physical nicotine addiction.
Usually within the first day or two of quitting smoking it is likely you will suffer from nicotine withdrawals. The feelings of withdrawal after quitting smoking can be very uncomfortable and usually drive a person to smoking again with-in the first week of quitting. This does not take into account the psychological aspect of quitting that can even add more pressure. But if you plan accordingly you can overcome and minimize the effects that quitting smoking will have on you.
For starters, not only do you have to break the habit of smoking but you also have to find new healthy ways to deal with the personal problems that drive you to smoke. Before you quit smoking, answer the following questions: What kind of smoker are you? What do you get out of smoking? What does it do for you? It is important to identify why you smoke and what kind of satisfaction you feel when you smoke.
Once a smoker understands his own smoking behavior, he will be able to cope more successfully and be able to choose the best approach to quit smoking. Being able to believe in your mind and change the way you think about smoking may make it easy to quit smoking.
On the other hand if you ask some people who have been able to quit smoking they will tell you that it was one of the hardest things they’ve ever had to do. Smoking cigarettes makes you feel calm and satisfied. It will often make a person feel more alert and increases your energy. Like many addictions, the more you smoke the more you will need to smoke to continue to feel good. It does not take long before you don’t feel normal without smoking a cigarette. It will take time and dedication to quit smoking and free yourself. When quitting smoking it will likely take several attempts to quit. Don’t give up! You will feel normal again and regain control of your life and health.
For many people smoking cigarettes is a part of their life. It was mine, I smoked when I was angry, bored, hungry, stressed, etc. After years of smoking it became a daily routine and habit. You may even feel uncomfortable not smoking at times or in places where you are used to smoking. You may feel that there is an easy way to quit smoking. Then again you may find that quitting smoking is not going to be easy, that it will take work, it may even take several tries but you learn something each time you try. Many individuals have been able to quit smoking, so can you.
